"The Image Screen "
Opening Reception: Friday, 2 November,
2007, 7pm
Duration: 3 November through 15 December, 2007
Opening Hours: Tue-Sat 12-7 pm
Screening can mean to present information or
to obscure it. ‘The Image Screen’ is an exhibition
of 'to scale' photographs of framed screens. There are photographs
of screens applied to windows to obscure aspects of an interior
and photographs of electronic display screens designed to generate
and present imagery to us. All the screens are damaged or ruptured
in some respect and traces of this damage are visible on the surface
of the photographs. Despite the contrast in their function and
appearance the disturbed patterning on the surface of each screen
establishes strange and unusual relationships with the next; horizontal
lines rhyme with vertical lines, grid like surfaces are counterbalanced
with organic erosion. The installation establishes relationships
between the photographs that give the viewer an opportunity to
develop new visual connections and experiences.
